Meet Jeff and Annie
Jeff and Annie are married and have known each other since the German Club in High School, over 40 years ago. They live in the mountains of Western NC with a home that overlooks the Smokies.
Annie is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and has spent most of her life outdoors. She is currently a professor of nursing. Before that, she was a river guide in Western NC and California for more than 10 years. She and Jeff lead the Alaskan River Tours together. For safety reasons, Annie guides the last raft in the line, while Jeff is up front. She is an avid hiker and participates as a guest on our Himalaya Treks. She also helps with logistics on our cycling tours.
Jeff starts his day early, with his blend of biblical quiet time, reading, and writing. He works out after the cats have been fed, and he then migrates to studying languages or writing another novel.
Jeff is earning his USA Triathlon Level 2 Coaching Certification and has earned the American College of Sports Medicine's Certified Personal Trainer title. He is also an International Fitness Trainers Association-certified Group Fitness Instructor

Jeff is a competitive age-group endurance racer and an accomplished cyclist and runner. His original blog idea, thoughtsintraining.com, started as an outreach to help other athletes maintain their competitive edge while they develop their spiritual one. It has evolved into an eight-part series of fictional books available at retailers everywhere. As an author, he pays forward the second chance given to him after he almost died in a bicycle accident in April of 2020.
Jeff holds certifications from USA Triathlon as a Level 2 Coach, the American College of Sports Medicine as a Personal Trainer, and the International Fitness Trainers Association as a Group Fitness Instructor. He combines his knowledge of science with that of the Bible to create training plans, teach you how to maintain your body, and help you reach your goals.
Jeff knows that he will never “arrive” at the perfect diet and fitness regimen, but he is open to sharing his journey and hearing about yours.
